Immediate 4 - Heat Exhaustion
This video was created to explain how to properly care for a heat exhaustion situation.
Joseph is running on the track at school and begins to show symptoms of heavy sweating, dizziness, and tiredness. He ignores these symptoms and continues to run. He then collapses. A bystander, Stephanie, witnessed him faint and calls 9-1-1. She tells them her name, where she is at, and what she saw. She then checks on Joseph and helps him over to a shaded area. She then gives him cool clothes for his neck and water to help cool him off.
Wolf Pack- Diabetic Emergency
The purpose of this video was to inform people about what to do in the diabetic emergency.
Sarah, Jenniffer and Joy were walking in to the classroom when Joy began to feel dizzy and light headed. Joy then fainted due to hypoglycemia. Jenniffer and Sarah then checked for signs of life and if she had a medical identification bracelet. They removed Joys book bag and let her lean against Sarah for support. After joy was awake after the fainting spell and was sitting up, Jenniffer gave her orange juice.Sarah had Ashton call 911. The situation was under control. The team used the proper steps
RCR: Concious Choking
Fantastic Four Video Project
There were three roles in the video; victim, bystander, and first responder. The skills used in this video were check, call, care. We checked the victim to make sure she still had a pulse and was breathing. We shook her to make sure she was conscious, or get her to wake up. We kept her in a sitting position after she woke up until she felt better. The only time to call 9-1-1 is if the victim has fainted more than once or does not wake up. The purpose of this video was to demonstrate proper skills in handling a fainting victim. This video isn't intended as a substitute for training.
TEAM ROCKET POWER-CHECK,CALL,CARE
Check, Call, Care
The purpose of this video is to show the proper way to Check, Call, Care in an emergancy situation.
Taylor walks in and faints, with no one around.
Audrey walks in and finds taylor on the floor she checks the scene right away.
Lorena walks and audrey tells her to call 911 as she begins to give care.
Shortly after some care the EMS arrives on the scene and takes over.
Are song is the bomb digget, and to help you remember CHECK! CALL! CARE!!!!! :)Thursday, March 10, 2011

Library Inspection by Fantastic Four
Changes:
-Library needs an A.E.D.either at the circulation desk, with the first aid kit, or in visible areas around the building
-Easier to read Evacuation maps: the current maps are very difficult to read and understand
-Fire Extinguishers in the Library (where the books are located) should be relocated so they are easier to find.
Safety concerns:
-The elevators have not been inspected in 1-3 years
-There are no visible security cameras in the "loading dock" area
-The Cybercafe can't find their fire extinguisher

Changes: Needed an AED on location of the building. Buildings are far apart so there would not be enough time for an AED to be brought over. Also, not providing a First Aid kit
Present: Located fire extinguishers, evacuation chairs, Emergency Call button, Fire Alarms and evacuation routes
Safety Concerns: Not providing an AED or First Aid kit for minor injuries

Care or Call First Situation: This is a care first situation. If the wound is severe enough call 911 or take victim to ER.
Actual Scenario: Lisa is taking a a test her sharp pencil rolls off the desk. As Lisa reaches down to grab it the pencil bounces upward off of the chair and the momentum from her hand going down cause the pencil to impale her left palm.
How many victims, conscious or unconscious, sign of life, do the rescue breaths go in?
There is one conscious victim, there are signs of life. The victim needs the pencil and bleeding to be stabilized.

- Care first before you call, if needed call 911
Scenario: Victim was working on a jobsite and happened to step on a long nail. Nail remained stuck through the victim's foot.
Care: Provide a impaled object splint to the vitim's injury. Place 2 rolls of gause on the topside of the foot, then use one more gauze roll to wrap the injury and keep it secure. You do not want to remove the object cause it could possibly make the injury worse. Rush the victim to urgent care to have the object removed.

Correct Procedure:
Checked on victim asked if she was okay.
Claimed to have called emt.
Gave victim drink.
Tried to comfort victim.
Incorrect Procedure:
Claimed to give sugar to diabetic victim (didn't see anything added).
Gave victim drink but we don't know if the victim was suffering from
hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia. If the victim smells fruit like do not give
sugar to the victim could cause death!
Did not try to stabilize temperature.

Correct:
-Check: friend asked if the victim was all right, caught her and laid her down, asked bystanders for anyone CPR certified
-Call: Called 911 and informed them that the victim never had a seizure before
-Care: Cleared the area; didn't restrain victim, once conscious had victim remain seated.
Wrong:
-Probably should have checked for a temperature, perhaps check blood pressure, move her to a shaded area and given her some water after the seizure.
